From the moment I thought of making the August issue all about sex, I knew it would be fun. (Duh!) As you can imagine, we’ve been planning and giggling about it for quite some time now, and M!’s writers have been more than a little over-enthusiastic about their assignments. So here it is: in celebration of these overheated dog days of summer, when all you can do is sweat and sweat and sweat some more as you travel from one air-conditioned space to the next, in search of a few moments of cooling relief…hopefully in the embrace of that special someone.
Each of M!’s regular writers has their own take on this month’s theme: Pamela Hormazabel Aroca returns to gives us a rundown on the “Sexiest Movies of All Time” in Cinemaz; Maureen Geraghty looks at why sex – lots of it - is good for your general health and well-being; astrologer Risa D’Angeles examines how each of us thinks about sex; and Noted and El Buscadero share some unusual sexual trivia (uh-oh).
We’re introducing some new features this month, too: author and motivational speaker Terry Phillips debuts his column on relationships, “Heart Beats;” and local chef Mariana Gomez Rubio’s “Bottoms Up,” insider’s tips on wines & other “adult beverages,” premiers with info about champagne. Also, guest writer/historian Bette Schwarz explores the secret past of El Estratosfera, a house of dubious, but enjoyable, repute.
Oh, one more thing: this is M!’s combined August/September issue. We’ll be back with a bang in October with all your regular features and some great new ones, too. Happy summer…and then some.
