7 First Fridays Artwalk It’s the last Artwalk of the season, so you’d better gather some friends, get yourself in gear and head to Centro Historico, where 30+ artists will open their doors and display their artistic creations. Sculpture, drawings, paintings, mixed media, jewelry and more are all featured. Free. 4-8pm. Info, map: www.artwalkmazatlan.com.

7 Wagner Music Festival Enrique Patron directs guest soprano Sara Sipil and the Sinaloa Orchestra in a concert of the rich, complex works of the musically controversial Richard Wagner. 8pm, Angela Peralta Theater, Plaza Machado. Info, tickets: 982-4446.

23 Skateboard Expo The whole family is welcome to this skateboard expo, hosted by Mercava, in memory of local skater & artist Nino Rata. Demonstrations by pro skaters, a skateboarding photo exhibit & art show, and more. Free. 2-10pm. German Evers Gymnasium, Calle Zaragoza #1708, Centro.

21-23 Surf Music Festival 2010 More than 400 professional surfers and body boarders from all over Mexico converge on Mazatlán for the Surf Music Festival 2010, hosted by the Sinaloa State Surfing Association. The event is bigger than ever, with three sites, multiple bands, a fashion show with the latest in beach and surfwear, and a nod to the planet with an Ecology area featuring films, info and lots of giveaways. Professionals will compete in Seniors, Masters, Men and Women and Juvenile categories to win a spot on the Mexican Pro teams and travel to the world Championships in July. Free. 8am to 4pm both days. Main stage: Camaron Beach, between Valentino’s and Joe’s Oyster Bar, Golden Zone; smaller stages and competitions at Playa Bruja and Los Pinos. 2 “Frankenstein” Rock Opera The Sinaloa Arts Festival continues with this spectacular, critically acclaimed presentation by José Fors of Mary Shelley’s rock opera “Frankenstein.” Live music, fantastic sets and an all-around expert production mean you should get your tickets now! 8pm, Angela Peralta Theater, Plaza Machado. 14,15,19,21 Mazatlan Museum of Art Our local art museum hosts a variety of happenings: theater, concerts, exhibits & more. Youth theater group Raices Magicas presents “Galileo Galilei” on the 14 & 21; Alichan Teatro Group presents a production on the 15th; marionette show on the 19th at 8pm; and new art exhibits.
