
1 Callejoneada! Dia de los Muertos
This procession/parade winds its way through the streets of Centro, starting and ending at the Plaza Machado, visiting altars set up in homes and businesses in remembrance of the deceased. However, it’s a raucous, fun affair, lead by keg-laden donkey carts, costumed dancers and live banda groups. Start-time: 6? 7? 8? Who knows? Head to your favorite restaurant in the Plaza and be ready to join in.
1-29 Festival Cultural Mazatlán
This annual 6-week event includes music, dance, art and more. Highlights: Spanish rock band Jarabe de Palo in Olas Altas (Nov. 19, 8pm); Big Band de Monterrey, Angela Peralta Theater, (Nov. 15, 6pm); Ballet Folklorico Sinaloense, APT (Nov. 18, 8pm) and jazz singer Margie Bermejo in Olas Altas (Nov. 21, 8pm). 1 & 5 Delfos Dance Company
Mazatlan Cultural festival kicks off with two performances by the world-renowned Delfos Dance Troupe, including a new piece, “Sidereus Nuncius,” that premiered in the Cervantes Festival in Guanajuato. 6 First Fridays Artwalk
The season debut of Mazatlan’s monthly First Fridays Artwalk finds 40 artists in 23 sites opening up their galleries and workshops. Drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, Huichol art, mosaics, architecture, jewelry and more are featured. Gather some friends, pick up a free map (at local stores & restaurants or download at www.artwalkmazatlan.com) and off you go on this art-filled, self-guided tour. Free. 4-8pm, Centro Historico.
7 Mexicana Extravaganza
For the fifth year, this fundraiser presents fabulous entertainment, lots of food & tons of fun. Show features dance by Estrellas de Sinaloa, flamenco by Conchita, songs by Diego Arredondo and Dee Robbins and Caulyan, a dance troupe from Rosario. Tickets: $175, includes dinner, show, raffle. 22 Hospice Mazatlán Golf Tournament Kick-Off Party
Live entertainment, a raffle and more are all on the menu for this third annual fundraising event, and you can register for January’s golf tournament, too. Dogs and their owners are invited to attend this bow-wow bonanaza, an afternoon dedicated to man’s best friend. Enter your pooch or just watch as dogs compete in contests in Agility, Most Beautiful, Ugliest, Largest, Smallest, Fastest, Owner Look-Alike, Costume and Talent. Demonstrations by local dog trainers Sure to be a hit for years to come, this first-ever event is sponsored by Amigos de los Animales Mazatlán Humane Society. Cost: Adults $25, kids $10.
