2 Audubon Bird Count
Estero del Yugo, a 27-acre protected estuary in the northern Cerritos Beach area, offers great birding, with birds such as the Black-throated Magpie-Jay, Purplish Jay, Citreoline Trogon, migratory ducks, egrets, ibis, spoonbills and more. 12 “Write-On Maz”
Six published English-language authors who live full or part-time here present their works at a fundraising event for the Mazatlan Lending Library. Stella Bell, Susan Carnes, Ruth Clarke, Marshall Mason, PJ Reece and Ethel Stockton will host a discussion panel. Wine, hors d’ouevres, live music and a raffle are also part of the fun. 16 “Romance of Tablao” Flamenco
Local flamenco troupe Miura Flamenco Expression teams with an international cast of dancers - including one of Mexico’s most well-known, Marién Luévano - to present an energetic new version of this passion-filled tale of love and hate. Brought to life with live musical accompaniment of guitar, flute, violin and of course the expressive percussion characteristic of flamenco. 5pm and 8pm. Tickets: $100, $150, $180, $200 pesos. 21 / Ongoing Intercambio Gráfica Printmaking Exchange: NY-Mazatlán
Three studios and 10 artists exchange and exhibit their work and ideas in two host cities. From Mazatlán, artist/professor Lucila Santiago of the Municipal School of the Arts and artist Glen Rogers will work with five artists from Bluseed Studios in Saranac Lake, NY, creating etchings, monotypes, hand-made paper and linoleum block prints.
