Cancer, the mother of the zodiac, nurtures all that’s around them

Summer's here and living becomes easier, more comforting. July is filled with the golden light of the Sun, which deeply nurtures humanity, the Earth and her kingdoms. Cancer represents our inner and outer home, our family, how we’re nurtured and how we, in turn, nurture. Cancer is our upbringing and conditioning influencing our entire life.

Until we are directed by the Soul, many who have Cancer significant in their charts (Sun, Moon, Rising, mid-heaven, Mars in Cancer) can feel they have no true home. They stand outside other people’s homes, especially at dusk with golden lights emanating from windows, looking in wistfully. "Where is my home?" they ask. At this point in our evolution, our true "home" is the Soul.

Cancers act like crabs (little crustaceans at the seashore). If we observe how crabs move we see they scuttle “around” their target, moving in and out, around and about. The crab is testing whether coming close to their target is safe. Observing a Cancer (Sun, rising, moon) in their lives, we will see they are loving and intuitive, cautious and protective, sympathetic yet changeable, moody and touchy. Cancers love their home, creating a nest with containers all around – baskets, bowls, shells, and things moon shaped in the form of moonstones. Cancers can be conservative, solitary, and in their nurturing, completely over-protective. Think of the shell above the crab protecting a very vulnerable body underneath. Cancers are the mothers of the zodiac (along with Virgos). They are sensitive to others’ needs, especially family and close friends. Don’t tell a Cancer what to do. They, like Capricorn, must experience, learn and choose all by themselves. In Egypt Cancer was the beetle or sacred scarab, symbol of resurrection and immortality. In the Labors of Hercules, a crab bit the heel of Hercules. The United States came into being (Declaration of Independence) on July 4, 1776 in the sign Cancer. It has therefore nurtured many different races and civilizations.

ARIES (Mar. 21-Apr. 20) Begin to put things in order even though responsibility seems overwhelming and the only thing you know anymore is work. The present is preparing for a future time when goals, ambitions and dreams bear fruit. Don’t fret if your work saw no recognition in past years. This will change.

TAURUS (Apr. 21-May 20) You’re learning how to express yourself in ways different and more expanded. Work hard on communication, carefully organizing all information. You also need amusements, play and recreation that calms and cares for you. Perhaps you find nothing amusing at this time and much in your life is burdensome. Many call you for assistance and help. You respond with constancy and clarity. We thank you.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20) Many things are impacting your inner self and domestic life. It’s important to have right relationships with your partner because your home must be a place where you find safety and security in the midst of reorganization, reshuffling and added responsibilities. You’ll be asked to care for others, possibly playing a parental role. Soon your very foundations change. You’re preparing for this.

CANCER (June 21-July 20) Understand how your inner world relates to your outer world, and try to see the world through dispassionate (non-judgmental) eyes. It’s easy to judge others - but in our present crisis and the world to come, this creates separation and tension. What are your virtues and behavior ideals? Who personifies how you would like to be? An inner preparation is taking place as your mind continues to be made new.

LEO (July 21-Aug. 20) You learned in the past five years more about who you are. Now you’re learning what values – physical, emotional, mental, moral, psychological and spiritual – are important. Do whatever is needed to stabilize finances. You work hard each day. Don’t allow fear to overcome your life. If you organize and maintain a focused order with finances and resources, you’ll come out ahead and successful.

VIRGO (Aug. 21-Sept. 20) Assess your true duties and responsibilities, whether part of a home business or in work for others. New avenues concerning your work create recognition and honor. Think of all you do as service, the task of all Virgos. You already understand this; however Saturn stands nearby, directing you toward a fiery new Path that liberates. You then advance.

LIBRA (Sept. 21-Oct. 20) Your personality characteristics, those unconquered and unsubtle, are permeating your daily life so you can see, feel and finally overcome them. You’re on a “burning ground” and all you’ve experienced has been difficult, surprising and like a battle. If you eagerly enter into the light of your Soul and stand with the Angel protecting you, a great glory begins to unfold within. Then you’ll no longer be an imprisoned princess or prince.

SCORPIO (Oct. 21-Nov. 20) I suggest a study of dragons. There’s a shadow around all of us, consisting of all past life events still incomplete. Have the intention to complete all past interactions, relationships and events so you can come forth into a greater and more life-filled “measure of life.” Aspiring toward completions, all illusions fall away. Then you become “triumphant.”

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) How are your responsibilities these days? Overloaded with work? Are you being called to lead more and more? When there’s great work to be done, there’s also great achievement. Know you’re functioning fully with a sense of success. Your individuality is expressed through your unique achievements. Don’t let this be a time of disaster. Allow nothing to be unleashed from the past. Focus in the present.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 21-Jan. 20) Call forth and embrace a wider area of new discoveries. You could become narrower and narrower at this time if you think you understand everything and all of life, especially people around you. This is not quite the truth. You’re heading to a great zenith in your life where all ambitions bear great fruit. Allow your higher consciousness (Soul), your religion and/or spirituality to lead you. The benefits will be enormous.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 21-Feb. 20) The transformative focus continues to be finances, resources and possessions. You ask yourself what’s important. Perhaps you’ve access to and/or received more money than ever before. Perhaps you’re asking what all your resources are for. The answer, “To share with others,” is the most Soul-oriented. Do this now, for later you may have to ask for assistance. We are given to, so we can turn around and give to others unceasingly.

PISCES (Feb. 21-Mar. 20) Everything’s being ‘cleared for action!’ Slowly and surely things are continuing their completion cycle from the past 14 years. Anything not finished seeks your attention. Later, you’ll begin new projects. The present energy is only for completing past projects, not for beginning anything new. Should you rebel against this final phase, events will lead you astray and pass you by. Therefore, tend diligently.
