There’s much talk about soul mates among the New Age crowd. What this really means is the person who will fulfill all my dreams, make me feel comforted and loved, and will never scold me. But what isn’t spoken is “I need someone to tell me where I’ve gone wrong, someone to push me forward when I’m afraid, and someone who isn’t illusioned by my presence.” The former is what we think we’re seeking. The latter is what we get, along with, for most, rainstorms of fighting, disharmony and disillusion.
Every sign has its opposite, the sign that balances, compels one to act differently, and identifies what’s hidden, secret and needing to be learned. For everyone, it is this opposite that completes them. Like hot needing cold, dark needing light, night needing day, yin needing yang, the feminine (Venus, attraction) energies need the masculine (Mars, desire/action) energies (note the word energies, not genders) to make a complete whole. This polarized field is actually called the Life Force. And this life force generates what we call “sexuality” in all forms, and in all kingdoms. The ultimate outcome of sexuality is union, a bliss-filled, highly spiritual state, rarely attained.
- Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward
In astrology, to understand magnetic attraction, sexuality and love, one looks at how the Sun (personality), Moon (comfort), Venus (attraction, receptivity), Mars (action, desire), and Uranus (sizzle) interact with each other and how these planets interact in the lovers’ combined charts. (The most famous lovers in Hollywood were Sun and Moon connected - Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward). When these personal planets interact positively, there’s attraction. If they challenge each other, there’s not only no attraction, but rejections and feelings of displeasure instead.
Relationships are created through each of our needs. When we need to learn something vital that progresses our life purpose, we’re attracted to the person who personifies that learning. When we’ve completed that learning, the relationship is over. All relationships are learning contracts. It’s magnetism that attracts two people and later it’s love that holds them together. Here’s where sex comes in. We seek union and our bodies are made to perform acts that allow for that union.
ARIES (Mar. 21-Apr. 20) Always looking for someone new, always in a state of excitement and infatuation, Aries forms quick relationships and then leaves. The moment contains the intensity and the sensations. But only for a moment. Long, drawn-out anything isn’t their style. Aries ruler Mars creates the quick rise and fall of passion. Aries initiates the relationship and the “other” is there to define them.
TAURUS (Apr. 21-May 20) Possessive like Scorpio, Taurus is a constant lover, never leaving even when the relationship’s over. Taurus “owns” everything around them, including their lovers or relationships. “You’re mine,” they say - and mean it. A steady partner is their style, nothing too deeply complicated or difficult. They’re simple with simple needs, ruled by their senses, and excellent lovers.
GEMINI (May 21-June 20) Curious, at times asexual, for Gemini, sex is really what conversations are all about. What excites them are words, words and more words, ideas, thoughts and anything written. When falling in love, or seeking one in particular, they write poetry. Sex is more an idea than a physical experience. Talk to them during sex and don’t stop.
CANCER (June 21-July 20) As Cancers nurture, they need that in return during relationships and during sex. Cancers are intimate and warm, kind and loving, if they feel accepted and loved in return. They sense how you’re feeling so always be truthful. They can be possessive and even motherly. How many children do you want?
LEO (July 21-Aug. 20) They are the best lovers if they’re constantly praised and recognized, no matter how good they are in bed. Leo lovers perform based upon what they think you think about them (complex, yes). They flirt, always looking for who will love them more, see them in a better light and create drama that exhausts everyone. They must feel they’re loved like no one else.
VIRGO (Aug. 21-Sept. 20) Hidden sexuality pours through their bodies but no one knows. They keep some of the sexual and love energy to and for themselves. Some call them frigid, but it takes someone special to unlock the key to Virgo’s sexual enjoyment. It’s a challenge. They can be very sexual or not at all. If sex is presented as healthy, they loosen up.
LIBRA (Sept. 21-Oct. 20) The most flirtatious, the most beautiful, the most charming, very romantic, and with the most partners. They seduce you. They MUST be in relationships. That’s how they learn they exist. Sometimes Libra just likes the idea of falling in love. Partners knowing this will keep them forever. When the relationship enters into permanency, they can (until they are older) feel bored.
SCORPIO (Oct. 21-Nov. 20) “Erotic” often applies to Scorpio, unless they’re studying to be a surgeon or work with the CIA. The Bond films are all about Scorpio: sex, money, power, the rich and famous, secret things. Sex with a Scorpio is exciting (and formidable). Scorpio coined the word “intense.” They can be willing to experience and try anything. Highly magnetic, they deal with desire very well and often get what they want - which is you.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) It’s fun always for Sag, who find their lovers at music festivals, on mountaintops or plains, usually someone who loves horses, playing and is willing to travel at a moment’s notice. They’re open, loving, innocent and intimate, filled with games and laughter and joy beyond happiness. They can give one a bit of a chase, need music all the time, and can avoid intimacy unless their partner allows them extreme freedom. They offer no frills, having no time for such things.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 21-Jan. 20) Dionysus was a Capricorn; strong passions yet very controlled. Sensual, filled with desire and very aware of who has power and control, they seek it, find and become it. This is reflected in their sexual nature. Be ready to either challenge them or surrender. Both excite them.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 21-Feb. 20) Aquarians love all of humanity and are friends with everyone. Rarely do they find the one true person in the world who belongs to them, who catches their heart and keeps it. They’re unusual, creative and a bit detached. They’re a puzzle to be discovered and explored.
PISCES (Feb. 21-Mar. 20) Pisces is adaptable, especially sexually. They’re very aware of their partner, try to please, feel compassion and understand every reality there is in order not to embarrass. Sex for them is true union. If love isn’t involved then sex is meaningless and eventually they’ll refuse. Often misunderstood, some Pisces offer themselves to God instead of an actual physical person. Only God can accept such great and deep Piscean devotion.
