We’re under the influence of Libra Sun, ruling relationships, marriage and economics, seeking balance between polarities. We see polarities between nations but we especially experience it within relationships. Always when there’s polarity, there’s tension. (Tension creates “attention.”) In relationships, polarities, if not integrated, create conflict. With conflict we know a new harmony is being called forth — difficult, yet a process of learning. Relationships are not only battlegrounds, they’re schools where we learn how to interact, cooperate, love and serve each other. In relationships we learn how to be in relationships, and we learn who we are.
Libra, like the other 11 signs, has specific character traits. Librans can be diplomatic, romantic and charming, urbane, sociable and peaceable. They can also be changeable and indecisive, flirtatious and self-indulgent. This depends upon the different developmental stage each individual is experiencing (learning through).
Librans usually smile a lot, especially when desiring or wanting something (or someone). And Librans want a lot! The energy of Libra begins at autumn equinox, when the sun is balanced between light and dark, north and south, summer and winter. Thus, the emphasis on balance. Librans are civilized, elegant, harmonious and have excellent taste. They are able, within all this mellowness, however, to be very discriminating when needed and walk away from arguments, conflict and crisis and whatever challenges their opinions.
A cardinal sign, they are leaders (like Aries, Cancer and Capricorn and can be very sensitive to others’ needs. Sometimes this overwhelms their fragile inner ecosystems, and they must turn away. Being very social, they also turn aside from conflict, needing to choose cooperation and compromise instead. Librans are artistic, perceptive, and seek multiple relationships, for it’s through relationship that Libra learns how to balance self with the “other.”
We’re all learning how to balance, how to recognize the harmony that comes forth from conflict, and how to create Right Relations with each other and Earth’s kingdoms during the month of Libra. This is the balance we must achieve before October 23rd, when the mysterious dark waters and nine personality tests of reorientation begin in Scorpio.
ARIES (Mar. 21-Apr. 20) What’s occurring at home, and what are the conflicts? There’s a sense of responsibility with all the work needing to begin or be completed. VIRGO (Aug. 21-Sept. 20) Some Virgos have become thinner. Some feel an overwhelming pressure to do something – more work, more responsibility, climb ladders of success, create structures and strategies to organize daily life. These are the times when gardening brings us to the here and now, obliterates shadows of doubt, and creates a motivation to work with the unseen world. Are you tending your garden?
